Scribner and Fort Worth ISD earns its own lawsuit!

Because Fort Worth ISD has decided that it need not follow state law in making its mask policies, or bother with ordinary processes under the Texas Open Meetings Act, a number of FW ISD parents contacted Norred Law to file suit. The resulting petition was filed late August 12. (It's now public.)

On behalf of Jennifer Treger, Todd Daniel, Kerri Rehmeyer, and an anonymous mom, and all their supporters, Norred Law has filed suit against Fort Worth Independent School District and its superintendent, who appears to believe that he can make rules without bothering with following the Texas Open Meetings Act or actually following the science.

At some point, people are going to have to recognize that requiring face coverings on school-aged children has a cost that exceeds its benefits. Just as a remember, children don't generally transmit the virus like adults do, and shrug it off at a rate that makes it less dangerous than the flu to them. These are non-controversial statements, but facts don't matter any more.

This suit seeks a restraining order to stop the implementation of the illegal rule, and incorporates the argument in the Petition for Writ of Mandamus filed in the Dallas Court of Appeals by AG Ken Paxton on behalf of Gov. Abbott concerning the legal force of executive orders.

You can download the petition itself HERE. (Exhibits now included.)
